Abstract | Value engineering is an advantageous system that requires a function oriented team to analyse and remove the unnecessary costs of a project while maintaining its quality and functionality up to the client’s expectation level. Within the construction industry value engineering has proved itself as a magnificent tool that can yield benefits such as team work, improved schedule and increased client satisfaction, apart from reduced cost. Altogether 5 case studies of value engineering from 2 different projects were done during the research period regarding implementation of value engineering in Nepal. The benefits, such as reduction in cost, enhanced project duration and obstacles and key success factors of applying value engineering in construction buildings of Nepal were identified as the result of this research. Though value engineering approach in Nepal isn’t up to the standard and systems of theoretical value engineering , the result obtained was quite positive, giving a positive remark and encouragement for further development of value engineering in the construction industry of Nepal. |
