AbstractForecasting climate changes is a necessity to sustain the human life on Earth. Although there has been technological advancement in an exponential scale to estimate the futures climate, there are still errors seen in the results. Global Climate Model (GCM) shows both good and bad results, depending on the area that it was generated in. There is bias present in the data and to remove these partialities, different bias correction methods are applied. In this study, four of these methods are discussed and applied to one GCM precipitation and temperature series for one river basin. The results of the application of these methods are then assessed and compared based on four numerical evaluations. First was comparison of the mean of the corrected GCM data and observed data. Secondly, standard deviation of the same two sets of data for all the stations were compared. Then, the resulting data percentage of alteration were compared between observed data with uncorrected GCM data and the corrected one. Lastly, the variance of the predicted and modelled data were compared. There was a special case for one of the methods in which, one more evaluation was needed. All four methods were applicable for the case of precipitation but only two for temperature. Each method corrected the bias and had a unique way of doing it. The difference was in the amount of correction those methods were capable of.
