| Abstract | This research has studied functions and steps of cost control described by (Halpin, 1985) and (Olawale et al., 2014). Researcher had conducted at one of on-going residential project in Myanmar in order to find out factors associated with cost control functions that have been reviewed in the literature. Further, researcher has sent out questionnaire survey to 16 construction companies in Myanmar in order to find out current common practices of factors critical to success in each function of cost control. Analysis of result of questionnaire survey has been done by overall analysis and group analysis according to the average scores yielded from survey. Researcher has found poor machinery recording system, labor work time recording system and cost reporting system as the most critical factors among all other factors. Identified recording of progress and expenditure as highest rank among other functions; and individual factors ranked as highest within group are also been ranked according to their average scores. To propose recommendation and guideline for improvement of existing practices of cost control functions in Myanmar construction projects. |
