| Abstract | In order to ensure maximization of profit, cost management is a very important aspect that must be explored. Cost management is a key aspect for project control and must be one the top requirement for a company. However, cost management in construction companies in Nepal are lacking resulting in adverse financial effect on both the firm and the owner of the project. For a developing country like Nepal it is important that development work is carried out smoothly. Therefore it is important to conduct a study on the cost management practice prevalent in Nepali contractors. The objectives of this study are, firstly to investigate the existing cost management practice in construction companies in Nepal. Second objective is to identify the fey factors affecting cost management in each stage and finally, to propose recommendation for improvement for cost management. The data was collected through interview of four different contractor operating in Nepal and there target group for the interview were project managers, site engineers and site secretaries. The findings from the interview were discussed and recommendation for improvement has been proposed. |
