AbstractClimate change has become one of the major concerns in today's international community. community. According to IPCC, surface temperature and precipitation over the world have been raised. Particularly, temperature has increased more in semi-arid and arid areas. Our study area kaidu River Basin is located in Xinjiang, and arid region, northwest China. Base on the daily data of temperature and precipitation time series from 1959 to 2006 in Kaidu River Basin, this paper analyzed the regional climate variation by using the RClimdex software and Mann-Kendall test to calculate the climate indices. The results showed that the temperature had an increasing trend in medium and low elevation areas of Kaidu River Basin. The temperature in medium elevation areas has increased more. Under the warming climate, the precipitation of medium elevation areas also has an increasing trend.
