AbstractIn the past, retailers mainly focus on long term contracts for many of their purchasing needs, but today the retailers focus on more flexible contracts for non strategic component of supply chain, which facilitate them to maximize their profit by purchasing from diverse suppliers and the spot market. The rationale of this paper is to develop a general model for supply contract in which the portfolio contract will be considered. The foremost objective of this research is to determine the appropriate base commitment level and the option level for a member in the supply chain such that his/her profit can be maximized. The first section of this paper highlights the importance of supply contract. And then it elucidates how to innovate the simulation model for the portfolio contract. The computational simulation results are presented to illustrate the performance of the optimal portfolio contract and its sensitivity to the parameter selection. This effort would, expectantly, be delineate for supply contracts that helps the retailer who plays a main role to optimize his performance while maximizing the profit.
