Abstract | In order to survive in aggressively competing markets of present age, companies need to look for the ways to improve their productivity continuously. It is also critical to ensure the efficient use of resources such as, Man Power, Machine, Materials, Time and Money to achieve the favorable outcomes. In order to reach the maximum production rate at minimal cost, it is essential to have a balanced assembly line configuration. The rationale of this project is to analyze an assembly section of an existing production line, prepare datasets relatively and find out the ways to optimize it using queuing network software to attain the optimum production scheme. The first section of the paper finds out the statistics of the current production line using industrial work-study methods and interviews with the company. In the second part of the project, the collected data are classified into appropriate datasets, which can be readily fed into queuing analysis software. Computational simulation results are presented along with their detail specifications to evaluate each system scenario. |
