Abstract | ln today's rapidly changing environment, the economic crisis has led to changes in companies operations. and financial problems together with economic downturn forced many companies to restructure. Thus. M&A activities are becoming conunon operations as strategies to strengthen financial situation and to maintain companies' business. Both developed and developing are giving more and more importance to M&As as a means of economic development for the country. This research study covers the development of M&As in developed and developing countries with special emphasize on Thailand. The main purpose of the case study was to understand strategic motives and to analyze the performance of companies before and after merger by looking at the expectations of investors, which could be affected by the company's share prices listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand. The lesson learnt from this study is that the process of M&As activities as valuation of business and transaction deals is complex and complicated so financial advisors should consider every aspects of the operation. Rules and regulations, pa1ticularly SEC and SET, are now encouraging M&As operations. Therefore, it is difficult to assess the result of M&A both in the short and long-term. particularly regarding to post-merger integration success. |
