AbstractThree- wheeler is the major paratransits mode in Sri Lanka can be seen in each and every small and big city. It provides flexible door to door service to the public. Even it provides better service to the public many problems have to face passengers and three wheelers drivers in the operation. The study was done to analyse the problems of both passengers and drivers. Face to face questionnaire survey was used to find is there having a significant difference be tween the problems and the demographical characteristics. From the results encounted that most of the night time problems faced by the young adults those who go to study and work. Air pollution, Noise pollution like operational problems are faced by the higher educated and high income earners. Drivers and passengers have to face safety problems in urban than sub urban. Limited parking spaces, higher level to meet with an accident are the major problems faced by the urban drivers. Young drivers do not like to continue this job and all of them do the job as they have no option. Old experienced drivers have problems of low income, poor facilities, and they have no organization to take care of them. Their self satisfaction is very low. From the findings it can be concluded that the existence three wheeler in future is acceptable but the government and the responsible authorities should solve the problems faced by the both passengers and drivers.
