Abstract | According to the nature, chance for earthquakes is high in many countries and the damaged cannot be estimated in advance. These earthquakes have the power to destroy any existing structures into dust if proper designing and calculations are not done to tolerate those loads. As a developing country, in Thailand there are many structures which are gravity designed and those are not considered for seismic activities. Therefore these structures have a high vulnerability to get destroyed during an earthquake. The focus of this project is about three storey school structure which is located in northern part of Thailand. This study is used nonlinear analysis software called Opensees for the analysis process. Nonlinear static pushover analysis is used to define the damage limit states and then fragility curves are developed for the prediction of damage state of this reinforced concrete structure. In this study infill walls are not considered. The predictions of this research will identify whether these structures should be retrofit, not retrofit or demolished. |
