AbstractTourism industry is significantly contributing to the national development in many countries in the world and it is also growing in a rapid rate in Asia-Pacific region. On the other hand, the international airport, a major gateway of a country, is playing in a very important role such as getting national income, international network and relation with outside world. This research attempts to find out the constraints and barriers in the development plans of international airports that participate in development of tourism in Myanmar. Data was obtained from in-depth personal interviews with the different people from the related Ministries and Departments. This study designated to the foreign investors who would like to do business in Myanmar in present and in the future and the development of tourism industry through modernization and standardization of international airports. According to the findings of this research study, the strength, weakness, opportunities and threads were found out and the improvements needed for the future development were recommended.
