AbstractPrivatization is to reduce the government role in economy by changing management and/or transferring ownership from state-owned enterprise to private sector. Since Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) adopted the government's policy for restructuring and privatizing the electricity supply industry in order to reduce the government funds for capital investment in the expanding the infrastructure project. Following this policy, EGAT has restructured its organization for a more decentralized, efficient, and streamlined operation. This research focuses on the Mining Business Unit (MBU), which is one of the main lines of business of EGAT. First, MBU is restructured to become a business unit and later, a subsidiary company. It also analyzes the sequence of restructuring MBU from mining business to fuel management in its attempt to respond to the new business requirement.
