Abstract | ''The best preparation of tomorrow is to do today's work superbly well". This wonderful quote by Sir William Oseler, Physician and educator sums up the crying need of today's organizations of quality. It isn't just a buzzword to be whispered at the cocktail pa1iies, it has to be a way of life in any organization. The ISO series of standards for quality system is a talk of today among industries, expo1iers, business houses, and all those who intend to enter the global market for trade. It's the key of gaining a marketing edge in European market and other paiis of the world. It become widely known widely adopted and continues to gain popularity among countries worldwide. But developing only a document system will generate reliable manufacturing process, will not create improvement in the quality of product and process. The research is based on the single case study. In this study, attempts are devoted to conduct the establishment of a TQM program as an extension of ISO 9000 standards, which can be considered as a first step to TQM. This study highlights firstly, the critical analysis of ISO 9000 practices and the problems encountered during and after ISO 9000 implementation by using a questionnaire survey. Secondly, TQM tools were used to measure the gap between the actual process, product and customer expectations. Thirdly, QFD matrix is used to translate customer voice into engineering design and P-D-C-A rotation approach is used for continuous improvement in product and process development. A generic TQM framework is developed. This study recommended for further study a new quality system should be developed based on ISO and TQM and applied in pilot company. |
