AbstractCell planning problem with capacity expansion is examined in wireless communication. An efficient optimization strategy is essential for dete1mining the number of base stations, their sites and parameters to achieve a high-quality network that meets the requirement of coverage area ,traffic capacity and interference level while trying to minimize system cost . In this research , we design a new network over an existing network . As an example of the network resource allocation and dimensioning we choose the Phuket region in the South of Thailand. The operating frequency for this new GSM networks 1800 MHz. This frequency band is allocated by regulatory authority, such that interference between two other operators is acceptable. In this work we have designed a new network for the region with efficient frequency planning and site selection and dimensioning keeping in mind diversification. Finally, we propose a methodology for site location for future traffic demand .
