Abstract | China is one of the largest developing countries in the world. It has a population of about 1,255 million and an area of about 9.6 million km, which is slightly smaller than that of the U.S.A. During the last two decades, China has had remarkable achievements in its social reform. From 1978 to 1998, the annual average real GDP growth rate of China is about 7.8%. Great progresses have taken place in all the major fields including manufacture industry, agriculture and service industry etc. At present, in several important fields, such as aerospace technology, hyper-conduction materials technology, China is taking worldOleading positions. Anyhow, China is definitely still a developing country. In the view of sustainable developing in the future, Chinese government has set several prior projects in its development agenda. On March 18 1999, China Education Daily rep01ied " In his Government Report to the National People's Congress, Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji reaffirmed the strategy of 'Revitalizing the nation with science and education" '. According to this strategy the prior projects distributed in communication, information technology, financial service and education etc. |
