Abstract | Hotel industry in Vietnam has undergone the most difficult time. The decreasing number of visitors in both tourist and business segments, the effect of regional economic crisis, the oversupply of hotel rooms, all contribute to the decreasing of occupancy rate. State-owned hotels have experienced the same problems or even faced harder situation as they lack of qualified staff, funding etc. In response to these challenges, they have implemented many solutions to find the way out. However, the situation remains hard for them. One of the solutions is to improve human resource function in order to enhance the service quality. Two state-owned hotels, Kimdo in Ho Chi Minh City and Planet in Hanoi, have carried out some measures to improve resource development. As a result, they are able to retain a significant room rates, even in the difficult time. This research tries to shed light on how human resource contribute to the service quality in these two hotels. By so doing, it aims to link the service quality dimensions with human resource functions and analyzes the relationship between these factors. Based on the research findings, some recommendations will be suggested. |
