Abstract | This research concerning with a positioning sensor is a part of making automatic control to a radio wave flying robot. A radio control helicopter is selected to be the flying robot due to its capacity to hover and good flexibility. Local Positioning System (LPS) indicates the current position in 3-dimensional space of the flying robot by using the concept of Global Positioning System (GPS). Since LPS is expected for local propose, therefore the ultrasonic is used to be the medium for determining time differences. LPS has one transmitter on the robot and four receivers on ground thus it looks like four spheres intersect at only one point that is the position of the flying robot. MC68HC11 microcontroller is programmed to calculate the current position after pulse signals from all receivers has arrived to the microcontroller. The positioning program is written to use time differences from travelling times as inputs of positioning equations. After finished calculation, the answer that is the position of the flying robot will be shown via LCD. Within this research, LPS is only a prototype thus it needs to modified and tested to become a reliable and precise positioning sensor for automatic control flying robot. |
