AbstractThis research study presented the identification of the hazardous locations along the First Stage Expressway in Bangkok through the application of geographic information system (GIS). The identification of the hazardous locations along the First Stage Expressway was based on the traffic accident data and other related traffic data in years 1996 and 1997, by applying the Rate Quality Control Method to identify hazardous locations. The results were presented both by text tables and by using Geographic Information System software displayed on PC screen. The application of GIS technology to display the results provides an effective method to recognize the attribute of hazardous locations. The analysis results clearly indicated that there are three same locations classified as hazardous in both 1996 and 1997 along the First Stage Expressway. Those locations are required immediate attention.
