AbstractPneumatic systems are extremely useful in many applications, however control of these systems is complicated as this may be achieved at only the two terminal endpoints. The purpose of this thesis is to develop dynamic control of a pneumatic system. To achieve the this, the position and the velocity of the piston of the SMC pneumatic cylinder (MYH 32- 500L) were controlled. The system is composed of a sensing unit, a control unit and a driving unit. The principle of potentiometer was applied to sense the position of the piston in sensing unit. For the control unit, Z80 microprocessor was selected for process control algorithm, which is the hybrid of a fuzzy and PID controller. The driving unit constructed from a relay and 3-states solenoid was used for driving the piston along the cylinder. From the pilot run, the system achieves the purpose of the research with some error.
