AbstractThis study attempts to compare the impact of treasury bills on the money market liquidity in Bangladesh and Singapore. Data of Money Supply indicators (Ml and Ml) collected from Bangiadesh and Singapore as the Money Market liquidity. Quarterly/Yearly amount of Treasury Bills issued by the Central Banks of Bangladesh and Singapore has been collected. The correlation between MI and amount of Treasury Bills issued and M2 and amount of Treasury Bills issued for both the countries had been tested. Simple Regression Analysis along wit!1 a test of Significance has been carried out for estimating the impact of Treasury Bills issued in the period of 1990 to 1997 on the money market liquidity of that period. In order to do this, correlation between Ml and Treasury Bills issued and M2 and Treasury Bills issued have been verified separately. Bangladesh and Singapore Governments and the Central Banks have been using Treasury Bills as measures of control of the money market liquidity. The Treasury Bills also play a significant role to control the domestic interest rates as more issue of Treasury Bills decrease the interest rates and less issue of Treasury Bills increase the interest rates. The study also relies on Bangladesh Bank publications, Monetary Authority of Singapore publication and different academic and business magazines.
