AbstractIn Thailand, for a long time, the solid waste management has been running under the responsibility of municipalities. However, working under the government system make the municipalities having inadequacy budget, inexperience personnel as well as lack of disposal technology. As a result, the management of solid waste which currently conducted, is inefficient. For this reason, the government tries to pursue the private sector to get involve in the investment. However, there is no project which a successful outcome. One underling reason for this is the legal framework that does not allow the investor to make profit upon the service fee charged. Information of this research were gathered via interviews with waste management experts both waste management public institution and private companies. Moreover, the Public-Private Partnerships infrastructure development practice was gathered via the interview with the expertise institution. This research investigated present solid waste management practices in Thailand, comprising of its current situation, its problems and resolution guidelines for each problem. As a result of the first step in information gathering, it has been found that the most appropriate solid waste management practices for Thailand is the Public-Private Partnerships and Integrated Management. For a precise understanding of Public-Private Partnerships practices, this research has further briefly presented its functions and sample case of its implementation in Thailand Combining the above mentioned information, this research finally comes up with implementation's cause of failure and appropriate Public-Private Partnerships alternatives in implementing a successful practice.
