| Abstract | The intranet-enabled data warehouse is the result of applying Internet/intranet technology to data warehousing. This thesis proposes a general model providing the architecture of an intranet-enabled data warehouse. The internal processes within the proposed architecture are also explained. To prove that the proposed architecture is practical, one large company which has multiple location sites is chosen for developing its intranet-enabled data warehouse based on the proposed architecture. The inventory system of the company is selected to develop a part of the whole intranet-enabled data warehouse that can be integrated into the total system later. In developing the intranet-enabled data warehouse prototype for the inventory system, the data warehouse conceptual model is designed using Star Schema technique based on users' requirements. Then, the data warehouse prototype is developed based on the designed data warehouse conceptual model. At the final step, the decision support application prototype is developed using data stored in the data warehouse prototype and using a Web browser as the user interface. |
