AbstractThe World Wide Web (WWW) provides a simple and effective means for users to browse, search and retrieve information, as well as to make information of their own available for others. However, it does not provide support for more collaborative information sharing, where widely-dispersed working-groups can jointly author, comment, annotate, negotiate and develop form and content of the information as part of a group, rather than an individual, activity. Electronic Meeting System (EMS), a new form of meeting has been developed by using information technology in order to make a group working more productive. A new area of development of EMS tools is to port EMS application to be available for use over the WWW called Web-based EMS. It combines the benefits of EMS applications with the advantage of ready access to anyone with the Internet or intranet access via a web browser. The developed prototype system can support a working group by providing a tool in order to have an effective and efficient meeting. The system acts as a virtual meeting room which can help the user to go beyond the problem of time and resource conflict.
