AbstractIn this research the use of Sabai grass and rice straw for linerboard and corrugating medium was studied. Soda air bath cooking methods were used. Cooking variables were chemical dose, cooking time. Pulp yield was measured as well as Klason lignin content and fiber length before pulps were refined. Paper properties of 100% Sabai grass and rice straw laboratory handsheets were measured. For optimization of the raw material mixture for linerboard and corrugating medium CMT was determined of laboratory handsheets by varying the Sabai grass/rice straw mixture ratio from 0% to 100%. As a result of the optimization test paper properties of 50/50% Sabai grass/rice straw mixture are presented. Research results are compared to RCT and CMT values of European and Asian secondary fiber linerboard and corrugating medium.
