AbstractCenterline surveying with GPS is more challenging than the conventional surveying methods but the performance is very high and manpower requirement is very low. The problems associated with the road centerline surveys can be attributed to different options that we have considered in the study namely, the offset from the centerline where the vehicle is driven, the speed at which the vehicle is driven so that the driver could maintain the required offset. The other important factor which decides the accuracy of the observation is the kind of receiver that is being deployed and the differential method adopted. This study has elaborately experimented on all the option that has been mentioned above but only for a straight road. This had been done to keep the experimental process easy and adaptable. The results are encouraging but they have not been verified on a different site.
