AbstractIn recent years, there has been a significant growth in the use of robotic arc welding systems. The robot can weld complex parts and multiple welds efficiently and with high productivity. There are many factors influencing the weld quality in robotized welding. The factors may include welding equipment capability, functionality of components of the cell, setup of the cell etc. Planning of robotic welding cell is a time consuming task for small batch production. In addition, setup of robotic arc welding cell, which includes selection of proper welding procedure and establishment of process control, is significantly influencing weld quality. In this research, planning and setup of robotic arc welding cell were addressed and welding capability study was conducted with proposed robotic arc welding cell. To investigate the welding capability of the welding equipment, a series of experiments were conducted for square butt weld joints with thickness 5.0mm.
