AbstractThis study tries to analyze the myth of Project Financing in the infrastructure sector in Finland based on a case study on Helsinki- Lathi road project. This study also portrays various sources of financing by the private parties with special context to the much required road projects by the independent operating construction company. The information applied in this study was collected through interviews and discussion with the president and top managers of financial institution, Construction Company and ministry of transport and communication Finland. This study is also based on company reports, manuals, published academic literature and magazines. The study also highlights the basic features associated with project financing in advance counties, the level of risk and possible source of finance to fund such risky and long term projects. As there is a great need for new and improved infrastructure projects in Finland, so that's why this topic is being taken up to study the overall infrastructure facility in Finland and the need for new public private partnership in this sector. The present financing pattern, constraints on the part of the Government, possible funding structure have been studied which are best suited in the interest of Finnish national government and it's overall economy. The case study helped to establish a typical funding mechanism and financing strategies under public private partnership. The study has revealed the need and requirement for better and improved infrastructure facilities in the coming years. This require huge amount of capital, in order to finance such big projects. Constraints on the part of Government and the public sector inability to finance such project lead to greater importance of private use of financing. This will help the public sector to not only share the risk of loosing money but this step will also enhance and boost the project itself to be completed without any delay. Throughout this study the main intention has been to prove the fact, that public private partnership or privatization is the only best source to boost the sick infrastructure sector of Finland.
