AbstractIn this paper, OpenGL based Sherline CNC Lathe machine simulation model is proposed to solve the difficulty of observing machining.. Some major techniques of the proposed system are investigated, by building the display model. And the method to create the 3D model on OpenGL environment through reading the 3DS file is proposed. Visual Studio C# language is used to write and program the stimulation and OpenGL is implemented. The main purpose is to develop OpenGL with such techniques as axis movements X, Z direction, rotation, and zoom in/out, motor speed control. With the use of CNC Lathe, the machining process can be viewed from the screen, enabling the operators to check the machining process without stopping the process. Consequently, it can improve the automation of machining process and avoid harming the efficiency of machining process.
