AbstractSurface mapping and borehole DPH-1 observation was made to assess geological, rock mass condition, compare and correlate geotechnical parameters and ground response of rock at Chulabhorn Pumped Storage Project site. The laborato1y tests of intact rock were performed to determine the mechanical prope1ties of rock material encountered around the cavern location. The EPDC (CRIEPI) classification, Geomechanics classification (RMR) and Q-System are the rock mass classification systems conducted for this project. The comparison and correlation between the systems was carried out to study the correlation between the systems for the project rock mass. The rock mass propeities were estimated from the three system of roclanass classification. The estimated prope1ties based on EPDC (CRIEPI) classification gave the greater value than RMR and Q-system. FEM analyses using PHASE 2 were made to evaluate stresses and displacements of rock around the powerhouse cavern for ranges of rock mass conditions and suppo1ts.
