AbstractThis thesis report presents the development a GPS and GSM based vehicle tracking system. Detailed explanation of the steps involved for developing the system has been included in the report. The following system uses Atmega128 microcontroller in which C programming has been done to provide an interface between the controller, GPS and GSM. Once implanted on a vehicle, the system sends the real-time vehicle location co-ordinates and google maps link when the owner sends a request SMS. We can know the vehicle speed when we want to. It also sends a message if the speed limit is violated, which can be set according to need. A vehicle tracking system can be employed to resolve several problems such as late arrivals and also inappropriate use of vehicle and/or assets.
