Abstract | There are many kinds of mobile platforms available in todays robotic industry. But a robot which is able to operate among the people in a public place should be very user friendly and safe. With many moving parts like arms and mechanical links in a classical robot it is not very safe to put in service in a public area or in a house with children. This project is aimed to develop a spherical robot which has no mechanical links and any component outside of the device. Since the driving system is inside the sphere, this can be very agile and compact. Also without any moving parts outside of the sphere it design is very safe to humans and can be very robust. In this project the main target is to develop the moving mechanism of the sphere robot. Hence a remote controller is used in this project to maneuver the device. However to apply this technology in real world, this project can be carried future with autonomous driving system and image processing. With those technologies this device can be very useful in real world usage. |
