AbstractIndoor Localization is considered the next step in mapping and navigation technology. When compared to outdoor localization , indoor localization is still in a research stage. That is mainly due to lack of proper methods , high cost of implementation, etc . But studies have shown that people spend majority of their daily life indoors rather than outdoors. Therefore Indoor localization studies have increased during last 5 -6 years. The objective of this project is to build an indoor localization system in WLANs. In order to do so, we are using the WiFi fingerprinting technique. Study was carried out in a selected floor plan. Idea of this project is to do the indoor localization with a high accuracy. An An droid mobile application is used to simulate this system. Since most people are using android devices, it is more convenient to use android technology. This project can be considered as a step to study further about the Indoor localization.
