Abstract | The focuses of the present study mainly deal with technical issues, especially planting methods and site factors (inundation levels) in mangrove plantations established in Ayeyarwady (A YWD) delta. Management practices of mangrove plantation were also documented in this research. Results based on the A YWD case study show that planting techniques and inundation levels (ground levels) effect the survival rate and height of A. officinalis plantation. Potted seedling technique was the most efficient one among three planting techniques in three different inundation levels. The yield of plantation in low ground level was the highest when Potted technique was applied. In addition, pros and cons of management practices used in A YWD delta were recorded in order to take out lessons for ongoing reforestation project. Thus, these findings may distribute the management practice of mangrove plantations in A YWD delta to other places, and may contribute to the Avicennia officinalis plantations in some parts of the world, which are usually established in different frequency of tidal inundation area. Especially, it may be useful in choice of planting techniques and selection of sites depending on tidal inundation levels. |
