Abstract | The purpose of this research is to study the behavior of full scale non-reinforced and reinforced flexible pavement in the field and compared the observed data with FEM PLAXIS 2D simulations. This research also studies the behavior of flexible road with geogrid reinforcements at different locations. The field observations were obtained from monitoring of field instrumentation. The concerned parameters included the vertical stress distributions, strains at geogrid reinforcements and deformations (rutting) in the flexible pavement reinforced from field instrumentations. Moreover, this research investigates properties, performances and suitability of flexible pavement and the advantages of flexible pavement with geogrid reinforcement. Geogrid reinforcements can improve the stiffness of flexible pavement structure and minimize rutting from repeated loading on the surface of the road pavement. Moreover, geogrid reinforcement can extend the life span of flexible pavements. |
