AbstractIndustrial wastewater audit is a part of the program for abatement of pollution. In this study, the VHB Company was the selected plant for the audit of wastewater. The VHB Company is to be invested for building and installing with the Danish advanced brewery technology. This factory has a product capacity of six million-liter beers per year. According to audit approach by the UNEP/IEO and UNIDO (1991), the wastewater audit for the VHB Company was carried out. Wastewater characteristics, water balance and mass balance were drawn for this brewery. The water - to - beer ratio is 9.75 m3 water/m3 beer. The wastewater - to - beer ratio is 8.25 m3 wastewater/m3 beer. The pollution load in wastewater stream in the whole factory is 84.7 kg SS/d, 56.7 kg BOD/d, 223 .3 kg COD/d, 258 g P/d, and 662 g N/d at a temperature of 28°C and a pH of 7.66. The main sources of wastewater pollution were determined. Measures of pollution mitigation for wastewater were identified for this facility. Considering the existing status in multi - aspects, recommendations for effluent reduction at sources and to apply the biological treatment for pollution wastewater in the VHB Company are studied
