AbstractIn this thesis, The author investigated the following terms; 1) Simulations of mechanical tests of the typical soil sample from Khon Kaen City in Northeast Thailand. 2) Dam. analysis during construction stage and filling of reservoir On term 1), the simulations of yellow soil were investigated by using Kohgo's elastoplastic model for unsaturated soil with oedometer, pressure plate and triaxial test. The results and discussions are described in Chapter 4. An elastoplastic model, which is used for interpretation and estimation of unsaturated mechanical behavior and consolidation analysis, were proposed in Chapter 3. In this simulation, it showed that the simulation results agreed well with experimental ones On term 2), Oreville dam was analysed by using the consolidation method during construction stage and reservoir filling. The results of horizontal movements, settlements and effective stresses with their discussions were proposed in Chapter 4. The importances of this analysis were illustrated in Chapter 2. This analysis of horizontal movements due to reservoir filling agreed well with measured ones. The conclusions and recommendations were described in Chapter 5.
