AbstractA boundary element method for the analysis of interfacial slip in fiber-reinforced composites under transverse tensile loading is presented. The interface is simulated by a spring type resistance model. The perfectly bonded interface is a special case, i.e., flexibility coefficient C=O.O, and the imperfectly bonded interface is the case that the flexibility coefficient is a non-zero value. This present method is applied to some problems with a range of combinations of material properties and flexibility coefficients. The results are compared with the analytical solutions and the finite element method solutions to demonstrate the accuracy of the boundary element method.
