AbstractInformation quality (IQ) is important to organizations, affecting virtually all aspects of business from operations to strategic management. Few empirical studies have examined the factors influencing IQ through quantitative methods. The aim of this study is to develop a research model for investigating technological and IQ management factors that influence IQ at the organizational level. This study applied a quantitative research by collecting data from 345 executives and 1,466 users of hospital information systems in Thai public hospitals. To assess construct reliability and validity, the study performed exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis. Hypotheses were tested using structural equation modeling. In this study’s context, the results indicate that IQ is influenced by IQ control, information system support, and system usefulness. Although IQ leadership and IQ education and training did not affect IQ directly, this study found that there were significant correlations among the IQ determinants, especially the correlation between IQ leadership and information system support. Despite the importance of health information, the descriptive statistics showed that the mean scores of IQ and all the IQ determinants, except system usefulness, were not high (less than 80%). Therefore, Thai public hospitals should improve their IQ by providing better information system support and institutionalizing IQ management. A national strategy for ensuring successful IQ improvement across Thai public hospitals should also be established.
