| Abstract | This study attempts to close a research gap by evidencing a mediating effect of strategic management accounting in effect of corporate governance on firm performance so as to confirm enterprise governance framework. This study provides insight into behavior of board governance against strategic management accounting and firm performance. This study analyzes 103 firms from Thailand’s capital markets between year 2011 and 2013 through regression and path analyses. Results confirm strategic management accounting has a mediating effect on effect of corporate governance on firm performance. Participation of accountants and usage of techniques in strategic decision-making and customers accounting obviously support firm performance. Active audit committee is a basis to improve firm performance. CEO duality enhances Tobin’s Q while an independent chairman who has some ownership affects higher ROA, ROE, and operation margin. Kinship between a CEO and a chairman supports sales growth. Results evidence significant management theories such as agency theory, stewardship theory, and resource dependency theory through behavior of organizations, management, and the board of directors. This study demonstrates a new research area in corporate governance and management accounting. Management can apply this knowledge to improve firm performance via structure of corporate governance and strategic management accounting. |
