AbstractIn this study, failure of the road parallel to the khlong Song In-igation canal was investigated in detail to identify the possible causes. The location of failure was between Km. 11 +734 and Km. 11 +808. The information required in this analysis were obtained through the field and laboratory tests. Several possible causes were also analyzed by using the simplified Bishop's Method. Combination of the drawdown of the canal water, dredging of the canal, Vehicle load and tension crack on the canal slope were the causes for failure. The results from these studies indicated that the failure of the canal slope was probably due to combination of drawdown of the canal water. As a remedial measure Pile walls were designed as slope stabilizing structures.
