Abstract | Sapa is the mountainous resort area in the Northwestern part of Vietnam that was found by the French in 1922. Sapa has many interesting tourist attractions such as natural landscape, countryside, indigenous cultural lifestyle, and executive local architectural forms of different ethnic groups locating in Sapa district. Through the long time of the wars and due to the weakness of economic conditions as well as of the development organizations, Sapa now still did not have investments remarkably for tourism development. The regulations, standards and guidlines as well as studies for tourism development of the area still did not clear. Thus this has negative impacts on environment of the area that reflected through degradation of tourist attraction sites in Sapa district. This study is about the relationship between tourism development and environmental aspects that related with natural, built, and cultural environment of the Sapa mountainous tourist resort area. Apart from this main subject the study has mentioned on planning that towards environmentally sustainable tourism of the area. Thus the study emphasized the need to conserve and develop tourist attraction sites that particularly reflected tlu·ough the conservation of the natural attraction sites, and other tourist attraction sites in Sapa district. The study also identified the proper guidlines for land use planning, architectural designs, other related tourist and community facilities and the relationships of local people in planning of the area. |
