AbstractVietnam is an agricultural country. The rural area occupies the lager proportion of total area Agricultural production is imp01iant for economic development of the country. In the liberated market system, the production of rural area is changed. The agricultural products are need be distributed in the urban markets. The functional areas are relationship between urban and rural areas is gradually strengthened. Rural centre is the transitional area between urban and rural areas to provide requirements urban functions in rural areas. In the rural area, rural center always plays important role in development and influences directly to activities in rural area. The urban functions located in rural area contributes and increase the economic and efficiency of different activities. The economic functions improve the economic situation in the rural areas. At that time, in Vietnam, the agricultural activities in rural area develop slowly and agricultural production is not very high. One of reasons of these problems is the lack of economic functions. The lack of economic functions is identified by unequal their distribution, the shortage of functions and the absences of other necessary functions. So that the additional economic function planning need to be conducted in rural areas to improve the economic situation. The Rural-Regional planning methods and techniques such as interview, discussions, check list, secondary data analysis, accessibility and network analysis and other techniques are used to analyze the existing situation of economic functions, assessment the economic functions needs and identify the lack of economic functions in the rural area. Base on this, the economic function planning is proposed in order to solve the problem and promote the economic development of the rural areas.
