Abstract | Mongolia has been faced with the dual challenge of redirecting industrial development towards higher value-added manufacturing activities and achieving closer integration with world markets since 1991 . In this respect, the concept of industrial restructuring should be understood as a structural change for build the ability to compete in national and international markets from a position of improved productivity or superior product quality. But, the term industrial restructuring does not have a well-defined meaning. This study attempts to identify direct impact of policy measures within the framework of general restructuring process in Mongolia on a any one of the five forces in Porter's Model, thereby altering the relative strength of these forces and with it, the attractiveness of the industry. Also it is tried to identify the changes to selected sectors as a result of the restructuring process. |
