AbstractElectronic commerce or E-commerce has become more and more popular in recent year thanks to the wide spread use of the Internet. The promise of E-commerce is one of the major factors that are contributing to the rapid growth of the Internet as a communications medium. With any commercial activity, it is important to consider the security implications of doing business, because there are people who do not observe the rules. Recently, a great deal of press has devoted to Internet security, and many of the businesses adopting E-commerce are confused and worried by the threat of losing money through electronic pilferage or credit card fraud. In this research study, key components and applications of E-commerce, and some security issues in E-commerce are discussed. Finally, an ideal firewall is also proposed.
