AbstractWhen people start talking about information management they talk about IT, computer, files servers and other net work systems. The present study aims at presenting the new concept of information management of Thomas Davenport about an ecological model of information management for success. The objectives of the study is to find out about the practices and approaches of information management with regard to each element of information ecology. The research is conducted both quantitatively and qualitatively in two European subsidiaries in Thailand. The analysis identifies the gap between the real performance and the importance perceived by people in the two subsidiaries. We found out that the information markets where information users and providers exchange or sell information is not structured yet in Thailand. The practice of environmental scanning and market intelligent system are not commonly used in this market.
