AbstractLiberalization artd privatization occurred to the telecommunications industry in the world since the 1980s. Most of the Asian countries are experiencing this trend now. Thailand telecom industry has been starting to join this movement in 1998, when the monopolized market starts to be open to the private sectors and foreign telecom players. Telephone Organizations of Thailand (TOT) and Communications Authority of Thailand (CAT) are going to privatize, was found as a result. Taiwan Liton is one of the biggest electronic companies in Taiwan. For the vision in the long term, Taiwan Liton is interested in investing the telecom industry and expands its business market in telecom industry. After July 1997, the economic crisis in Asia has still impacted Thailand and other Asian countries. Due to the economic reason and the agreement with WTO, Thailand government expedites the liberalization of telecommunications industry. Thailand becomes an attractive place for the international telecom investors now. With great potential market especially in the provinces other than Bangkok area, where the teledensity is still less than 10% per every 100 persons, Thailand is strongly suggested to be the initial market to invest and establish as the base of the Pacific Asian for Taiwan Li ton. However, Thai economic situation is still uncertain and the industry is still under the supervision of the government now. The telecom market will be completely opened in 2006. Since Taiwan Liton is a newcomer in the telecom market, the setting up a telecom investing company is suggested as the entry strategy for Taiwan Liton to the Thai telecom market.
