| Abstract | To the business EDI (electronic data interchange) aspect, financial EDI will "close the loop." It is the final step in improving and managing the entire business transaction cycle. The objectives of this research are to understand the process of financial EDI in Taiwan, and survey the inhibitive factors that affect banking industry in developing the financial EDI. Seventeen banks responded the questionnaires. They have been implementing financial EDI in their operations, which include ten public banks and seven private banks. The results indicated that internal organization and external environment requirements are two major dimensions with eighteen variables that influence the application of financial EDI in the banking industry. There are two variables that are not the inhibitors that are "lack of well-defined management objectives" and "unable to identify strategic opportunities" for internal organization. It is not a barrier that is "linking with several value added network will cause EDI system difficult to maintain" for external environment. We c<;>mpare the differences in the factors which is " lack of favorable economic growth" has a significant level between public banks and private banks for extern.al environment. |
