Abstract | This research study was conducted with the objectives of examining the relationship between student adjustment and academic achievement and determining which factors of student adjustment contributed the most to academic achievement. This study employed a quantitative survey approach and collected data using the Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire, yielding a total sample size of 289 students at AIT. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling. Reliability and validity tests were performed before hypotheses testing. The results of structural model assessment revealed that there was positive association of six independent variables AA-Academic Environment, SA-General, SA-Other People, SA-Social Environment, PEA-Psychological and AWI-AIT with student achievement and there was negative association of six independent variables AA-Motivation, AA-Application, AA-Performance, SA-Nostalgia, PEA-Physical and AWI-General Institute with student achievement, however, only five independent variables Academic Adjustment-Motivation, Academic Adjustment Performance, Social Adjustment-Social Environment, Personal Emotional Adjustment Physical and Attachment with Institute-General Institute significantly influenced academic achievement. While Social Adjustment-Social Environment had the greatest effect on academic achievement, the remaining seven independent variables Academic Adjustment Application, Academic Adjustment-Academic Environment, Social Adjustment-General, Social Adjustment-Other People, Social Adjustment-Nostalgia, Personal-Emotional Adjustment-Psychological, and Attachment with Institute-AIT had no significant effect on academic achievement. Implications of the results and recommendations are discussed. |
