AbstractThe importance of training for human resource development and organizational competitiveness is increasingly required. The Thailand Distance Training Network ( TDTN ) has been initiated in order to support on-site education and training to business, industry and organizations via a network established through utilization of distance technologies already available in country. Three main types of satellite, the fiber optic/leased line and the Internet were assessed. This research study will focus on the financial feasibility of the TDTN project. The possible technology alternatives are reviewed and evaluated. Assessing and cinalyzing the sensitive vaiiable parameters will determine the feasible range for each alternative and provide approximate criteria for investors' decision making. According to the research results, the project is perceived as positive from both marketing and financial feasibility. The satellite for the training network is practical. However, satellites have the disadvantage of high investment. This leads to the conclusion that Internet is more feasible. The appropriate of investment mode is joint venture with debt service because this has a higher return on investment and less risk. The feasibility study, even with extensive testing of assumptions, is not a substitute for a careful business plan. A pilot project should be implemented for more realistic evaluation. Marketing and strategic network planning need to proceed in the next phase. Nevertheless, the most appropriateness network will depend on investors' decision and commitment among participants in the consortium. This research does provide the basic criteria useful for determining the best choices for the network.
