AbstractThe Chinese economic reform has been implemented over 20 years since it's inception in late 1970s. It is now coming to a stage at which the transformation are from external expansion of reproduction to an internal expansion of reproduction, and from extensive operation to an intensive operation. People are aware that the rise or fall of enterprises depends greatly on its management, its building up of a high quality workforce of professional management. Thus, the demand from every spectra for management education is becoming more urgent than ever before. By means of interviews and survey questionnaire, the objectives of this research are to identify the various perceptions and needs of people in Yunnan, one of the Provinces of China, for management education, to reveal their respective expectations and preferences for some concerns related to management education. The data and survey results show the facts that two main rec1p1ent group of management education, students in universities and managers in enterprises are both in need of management education but with different desires. The former are more interested in a higher class management education, i.e., MBA or bachelor degree in business management. Managers are in favor of short-cycle management training course ranged from 3 to 9 months with diploma awards. Besides, a detailed analysis to some other items like technique used, size of class, training charges and courses needed etc., are also jointly presented in research. In the end, a proposal for developing a joint program between AIT/SOM and Yunnan Province is recommended.
